created in 1783 and named after the Marquis de
Lafayette who served in the Continental army under
George Washington. Some of the landmarks you won't
want to miss are the George C Marshall Memorial
Plaza, Fort Necessity, French and Indian War sites,
Jumonville, Wharton Furnace, Friendship Hill,
Searights Tollhouse and many mansions in
Uniontown that were originally built by Coal Barons. In
addition, there are two homes designed by renowned
architect Frank Lloyd Wright, Fallingwater and Kentuck
Knob which are within a short drive of each other.
Golf enthusiasts have many choices including
Nemacolin Woodlands Resort which recieved a 4.5
star rating from Golf Digest magazine for “Best Places
to Play" .
Ski Resorts that are in or near Fayette County include
Seven Springs, Mystic Mountain, Hidden Valley, The
Springs and Wisp.
Uniontown is the County Seat of Fayette County.
